Additionally, the Amstar representative, Diego, misleadingly sold us an excursion, promising a specific itinerary that was not followed.

While the resort offered a range of culinary options, the focus seemed to be more on Western-style cuisine rather than authentic Costa Rican dishes. One area that fell short of expectations was the food and dining experience. The resort aimed to keep guests entertained and engaged throughout their stay. Each evening, there was a show or interactive session, such as karaoke or Costa Rica trivia. Throughout the day, guests could enjoy water games, cornhole, Spanish and dancing lessons, and volleyball. In terms of activities and entertainment, Secrets Papagayo offered a variety of options. However, the pools, while tranquil and serene, were disappointingly warm, and there was a lack of shade options to escape the sun's rays. The air conditioning worked effectively, providing a comfortable environment. The room was well-appointed and serviced by housekeeping daily. The facilities and amenities at the resort were generally up to par. The overall hospitality displayed by the staff at Secrets Papagayo was truly outstanding and made our stay memorable.

Additionally, shuttle drivers Eli and Nelson were incredibly helpful and made our transportation experience seamless. The waiters, Luis and Marcos, provided exceptional service during lunch and dinner, making us feel like valued guests. The bartenders, William, Adrian, and Randy, went above and beyond to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. From the moment we checked in, Juan and Mike made us feel welcome and attended to our every need. One aspect that truly stood out during my stay was the staff and their outstanding customer service. Thankfully, there were frequent shuttles available to transport guests to various locations within the resort. However, it should be noted that the resort is quite spread out, making it difficult to navigate on foot. The grounds were well-maintained, and the layout was aesthetically pleasing. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the resort's beauty and attention to detail. However, there were a few areas that fell short of my expectations. Overall, it was a beautiful resort with stunning views and exceptional hospitality. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Secrets Papagayo in Costa Rica from September 1-8.
Definitely do your research before booking this resort. Although this property sits in a beautiful location, I just will not recommend this property to anybody who is traveling to Costa Rica. We would definitely recommend this resort offer their employees a parking lot because as you approach the big beautiful gates of Secrets all you see is cars lined up on the side of the road, found out later the cars belonged to the employees of this resort, give your employees a parking lot it’s just not a good look when you’re approaching the gate. He is hard working, incredibly awesome and very friendly. Our resort van driver (Ele, we believe that is how his name was spelled) is incredibly hard-working, friendly, and should probably get a raise, we hope the resort reads this and gives that man a raise. The food was good, the room service food wasn’t, and a few of the employees that we saw on a daily basis were incredibly friendly to us but not all. My husband and I often felt like it was a burden for them to even be friendly to us. This resort is such a daily hit or miss, one day it was ok the next day it was awful.
Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica was a let down.
